  • A view from the Sky Terrace 428 in Hong Kong (1/15/2016) - This is perhaps the most photographed view in Hong Kong, the view from the Victoria Peak Tower, Sky Terrace 428 ! I waited a couple hours for the right lights. This is my first attempt at HDR. This is with 4 photos with exposure at 1/2s , 1/8s, 1/10s and 1/15s. Merged using photoshop. Skywatch Friday
  • A view of Hong Kong Island! (2/1/2016) - A walk along TST waterfront in Kowloon, is most invigorating! This was taken on the afternoon of a cloudy day and it looked like it might rain. We were looking at the various artifacts of Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area, when I noticed this sombre looking high speed boat. Perhaps the coast guard. STOP PRESS : Avenue of stars is closed to public on account of renovation till end of 2018.
  • Breaking Dawn! (2/15/2016) - A stunning view of Jaffa, Israel from my hotel at Tel Aviv, at dawn. I could not sleep, probably because of Time difference, and just happened to go to the balcony at around 5:30 AM. You can see the Mediterranean Sea and the distinct steeple of Franciscan St. Peter's Church.
  • Different type of Tiger! (1/9/2016) - One of the more common butterflies of India. This is also called Striped Tiger. The one below is the plain tiger , which does not have the distinctive stripes.
  • Family Time! (1/20/2016) - The adults of the family were very watchful of us , although we were quite some distance from them.
  • Final Fight, Ghatotkacha Vs Karna (1/11/2016) - It is sundown on the 14th evening of the great Mahabharata war. Ghatotkacha, son of Bheema, is wreaking havoc on the army of Kauravas. The battle has now gone on beyond sundown, which has given more powers to him . He could become invisible and change his size too. Eventually Karna is forced to use that weapon (Astra), called Shakti, which he had reserved for Arjuna. This sculpture depicts the epic final fight between Ghatotkacha and Karna, in which Krna eventually kills him. It is said that even in his death, he increased his size several folds and fell on the Kaurava Army and killed thousands of soldiers!

  • Gliding Kite! (1/5/2015) - Nikon D5100, f5.6, 1/1000, ISO 100, 300mm When we were on top of "Uchi Pillaiyar Kovil" in Trichy, we could see many such kites waiting to swoop down on whatever food that was available on the hillside. Look at the beautiful patterns on the underside of its wings.
  • Hello world! (2/15/2012) - Hello World! Here is the dawn of my new website. DLR, that is , Digital Lens Reflex is a website about all aspects of Digital Photography. I have been an avid photographer since my teens when I got my first film camera. A few years back I had decided to create an online gallery of my photos and share with all my friends out there 🙂 Then again after a several months of inaction , here I am ! The intent here is to publish my photos and write about the same and also to publish tips & tricks to make your own digital experience full of fun as it has been for me.

  • Mumbai CST! (2/3/2016) - Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, AKA Victoira Terminus (VT), COmes to life at night with the beatiful illumication. The play of lights accentuates every nooks and elevations of this 130 years old Station Bulding. It is also one of the finest example of Victorian Gothic style of architecture.
  • Peering Eyes! (5/17/2014) - Peering Eyes or is it the Piercing Eyes of a Vegetable seller in a Kanha Village. He literally forced me to capture him in my camera! Nikon D5100, f5.6, 1/50, ISO 100, 55mm
  • Purple Dragon Fly! (1/18/2016) - We had gone deep into the forest to Netrawali Bubbling Lake in South Goa adjoining Karnataka. Suddenly a flash of purple seemed to disappear behind the walls of the pond. A closer inspection got me this shot. I think it is called Trithemis annulata
  • Sunrise at Changi VIllage (1/22/2016) - I ,with my friends, reached the Changi Village Boardwalk, Singapore early in the morning and we were not disappointed. The boardwalk runs for over 1km along the coast and is a hit with morning walkers and joggers. This is my SkyWatch entry

  • Surfer at Uluwatu! (1/3/2016) - Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia is one of the best places for Surfing in the world. From morning till sundown, one can see Surfers both learners and experts skimming the surf. In fact I met a couple who were here for a month just for surfing! Best months for surfing is April to August.
  • Thailand’s Little Mermaid! (10/1/2015) - Nikon D5100, About 30km North West of Hat Yay in Thailand, lies a lake and sea shore by the name Songhkla. You will find a Golden Little mermaid (no very little though) on the beach. The statue of the mermaid combing her hair, with a golden comb, is based on a legendary local story. On anyday you will find hordes of Thailanders coming here spend the evening but hardly any tourist!
  • Valentines Day Plans! (2/14/2015) - A pair of painted storks in Kumbhargaon, Bhigwan, appear to make Valentine Day Plans! Canon SX60 HS, 15.6, 1/125, ISO 160, 95mm
  • Vantage Point! (2/8/2016) - This bird . a female house sparrow, seemed to show us the way in front of us. It would wait for us till we got near, then pose a while then fly 20 metres away. only to repeat the whole process. Sparrow population in Mumbai is dwindling due rapid urbanization and only wooded areas are homes for these birds. This was spotted on the open fields behind Kharghar Railway Station.
  • Wat Chalong in Phuket (1/25/2016) - Wat Chalong is the most important and most visited Buddhist temple in Phuket. The ambience is just awesome. This image is one of the many structures within the temple complex. It is said that a small piece of Buddha's bone lies here. The beatiful architecture is captivating. Once can even climb to the higher floors for a better view of the premises.
